FAQ

Questions people ask.

If yours isn't here, email hello@neujoi.com.

Is this therapy?

No. NeuJoi is a wellness app, not therapy. For the full explanation of what NeuJoi can and cannot do, plus crisis-support information, see Safety & Privacy.

Will you sell my data?

No. NeuJoi does not sell your data. For details about privacy, messages, account deletion, and what is stored, see Safety & Privacy.

Do I need a diagnosis?

No. NeuJoi is for people who recognize themselves in these needs, diagnosed or not.

Who is NeuJoi for?

NeuJoi is for neurodivergent people who feel overstimulated, emotionally overloaded, shut down, angry, anxious, or just off without always knowing why. It is built for moments when you need help noticing what is underneath the feeling before it grows into something bigger.

What happens in early access?

Early access is a small first release. People get to try the core tools, share what feels helpful, and help shape what gets improved next. It is not the finished version, and that is intentional.

Can parents, schools, libraries, or clinics join?

Yes. NeuJoi is also building with community partners. If you want to explore a pilot for your school, library, clinic, or organization, see the Pilots page.

What does “sensory-kind” actually mean?

It means NeuJoi is designed to feel easier on the brain and body: calmer visuals, simpler choices, less pressure, and tools that do not assume everyone regulates the same way.

When does it launch?

When it’s ready. We’re testing with neurodivergent people in Detroit and reviewing the safety-sensitive parts carefully. Early access members will hear first.

What actually ships in v1?

GROUND offers quick sensory grounding, including things you can see, feel, and hear in about 90 seconds. Version one also includes mood check-ins, breathing pacers, Reflect, and Workday.

Does it need my camera?

Only if you choose to use it. GROUND Live can use your camera for an optional grounding activity. For the full explanation of camera permissions and on-device processing, see Safety & Privacy.

Will it work offline?

GROUND does. It is designed to be useful even when you have no signal or need a quieter, simpler moment.

Is there a cost?

Early access is free. Pilots for libraries, schools, clinics, and community organizations are free too. Learn more on the Pilots page.

How old do I have to be?

Early access is for people ages 13 and up. If you are under 18, please involve a parent or guardian before signing up.

Who’s building this?

NeuJoi is being built by Tyesha Lewis, a solo neurodivergent founder in Detroit, with input from clinicians and community members. Learn more on the About page.

How is this different from other wellness apps?

NeuJoi is designed for real-life moments: no streak pressure, no guilt, and sensory controls that are easy to find. The tools are short, practical, and built to support choice. Learn more on the About page.
